We all know how smoking can be a hard to quit habit for thousands, if not millions, of people across the globe. Yeah, smoking sucks and you may be in the situation when smoking is more like a drug for you. Unfortunately for you, smoking can kill you, so it is best to quit as soon as possible. But… is NLP the answer?

According to studies, NLP has proven to be an effective method to quit smoking forever. However is not as simple as going through a session and Voila!! Problem solved.

Certains conditions must be met in order to NLP treatment to work. Let’s go over this conditions:

1. A true desire to quit smoking. This is crucial, but is often overlooked, you have to get in touch with yourself and make a true decision. This means you have to think for yourself also. If you’re being caried to a treatment, well..then it won’t work. Because it is not YOUR desire. Maybe you should read about all the real dangers of smoking, I’m sure then you will have a real reason to stop smoking.

2. External support. That’s right the first condition involved the inner world, but sometimes the outside world works against us. First and foremost your family and/or immediate surroundings must be supportive, this means that they will understand you and avoid any temptation to you. It is important for them not to mistake support with censorship. When we are told not to do something we crave for doing it.

An NLP treatment with those 2 conditions met, is very powerful. But is also very important to use a proper trained NLP practicioner that can truly help you. A lot of people get caught on prices, but price most of the time comes with quality. Ask all the questions you have to ask, and seek the best resource. A healthy mind and body is priceless, and once you become aware that is possible to quit smoking using NLP, you will find that everything is possible.

I recently received an email that prompted me to answer a poll about what I feared most. I didn’t reply to the email because my biggest fear at that moment was the fear of receiving more unsolicited email. However, I did start thinking about the subject of fear. What are we afraid of? What is fear? What can we do about it? We all have fears at one time or another and to one degree or another. I did a little research of my own and found that next to terrorist, fear of public speaking and fear of success ranked high on the list of things people fear most.

Fear of Public Speaking

According to one survey I read, many people fear public speaking more than death. Although most people are not aware of why they have a fear of public speaking on a conscious level, psychological studies have determined that nearly everyone who has a fear of public speaking experienced some major or minor trauma when they were younger that causes them to be fearful of public speaking as teenagers or adults.

Fear of Success

Another high ranking and common fear is fear of success. Success means achieving or accomplishing a goal. Success can mean the attainment of wealth, fame, power or whatever you truly desire for yourself. Success is a good thing. Why, then, are so many of us afraid of success either consciously or unconsciously? It is all about how we perceive success.

Instead of focusing on how good it will feel to finally accomplish our goals, we are focused on the negative aspects. Perhaps we have a memory of a successful person who was ridiculed for having “too much money”. Perhaps we remember hearing that it is easier for a poor man to get into the kingdom of heaven or that successful people feel they are better than others. Therefore, we become fearful of what others may say and think about us if we become successful. We often sabotage our own success.

We are not afraid of success itself. We are afraid of what we imagine success might bring with it. We think we might or should feel guilty for having “the good life”. We fear making our friends jealous and think they will no longer like us. We fear we are going to have to work harder to maintain our new status. We fear that we’ll have to pay huge taxes. We fear that people will try to steal from us. We wonder what would happen if we were to lose our fortune.

A Powerful Emotion

Fear is an emotion and the symptoms of this emotion manifest in each of us in various ways. Some of the symptoms of fear are shallow breathing, sweaty palms, upset stomach, nervousness, headache, inability to speak, inability to think clearly, depression, uncontrollable shaking, inability to moved, and anger. People literally lose their lives and have been known to take someone else’s life out of fear. All of the “isms” are the children of fear – racism, chauvinism, classism, sexism. Wars and crime thrive on fear.

Fear takes away our creativity, imagination, freedom and peace. Fear stops us from pursuing our dreams. Fear destroys relationships and can make us physically ill. These four letters, F E A R, represent the most powerful negative emotion that exists.

And just think, we have all this unhappiness and suffering over something that does not even exist except for the meaning or perception that we give to a person, place, thing or event. Our fears only live because each of us gives our own fears life. The fears we have exist because we nurture them, feed them, and acknowledge them.

Our Past Stories and Imaginations

In other words, our fears are based on our individual perceptions, and our perceptions are based on our individual stories or histories and our imaginations.

How else can we explain the fact that each of us has different fears and fears to different degrees? For instance, there are many people who love dogs. However, there are also people who fear dogs. Some love snakes and have them as pets. Yet, many others are extremely afraid of snakes and become traumatized at the mere sight of them.

Most of the time, we are not even aware of the stories that our fears are based on. Some of us have anxiety attacks and are fearful over a comment that another child made to us when we were small. In other words, we let a child from our past control our life and health today.

Release the Fear

In order to release the fear, we must change our perceptions about a person, event or object. Choose to see it for what it is – a person, an event or an object. Many of us fear things that have not happened and may never happen. We cannot enjoy our lives today because we are fearful of what the future may hold. We can choose to release ourselves from the hold that our past stories and our imaginations have on us.

If you are totally immobilized by fear of something, you can always seek assistance from techniques such as Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP), or hypnotherapy. I encourage you to explore the options each of these techniques provide. Each of them, using their own methods, de-traumatizes past traumas and identify and integrate conflicting belief systems that keep us from doing things we want to do.

In my experience, these types of procedures can bring about relief from fears quickly. Instead of treating the symptoms, as medications do, these techniques and other similar procedures address the cause of the fear.

A Signal for Change

The positive aspect of fear is that it is a signal for change. If someone were to point a gun at us, in the mist of fear, we would hope that something would change for the better. Hopefully, we would think of some way to change the situation without being harmed. When faced with the fear of the possibility of a child being harmed, parents have found physical strength and mental courage that they did not know was possible.

And so it is with our everyday fears. Let fear be a signal to change or move in a new direction. Move beyond your comfort zone. Perhaps we need more knowledge about the person, place, or thing that is causing us to feel fearful. Most importantly, move toward love. Love yourself. Love everyone and everything. Love is the most powerful emotion. Where there is real love, fear will perish.

We Are More Powerful than Fear

In my opinion, failure to remember who we are in relation to God and this great Universe is the number one cause of fear. Where there is no faith, there is fear. The absence of belief in ourselves and what we are capable of creates doubt and fear.

Yes, there will be tragedies. No, things will not always go as you planned. Yes, there will be people who want to say negative things about you. These people would rather comment on what appear to be your flaws rather than deal with their own. Do not give them your power.

None of us are ordinary human beings. All of us are extraordinary divine beings. Everyone has the power that will not fail, should it be acknowledged and embraced. Sometimes, I have to remind myself of this. I say, “Fear, be gone. You have no power here.” Just by saying these words, it is as if I turn on a light and I see fear for what it really is – nothing.

Honesty and integrity are something everyone wants to know about in anyone i.e. boss, fellow workers, friend, client, customer and the list could go on and on and on and on. Honesty and integrity are the habits or character that not only we want to know about others but also what we want others to think about us – a truthful, genuine, reputable, real, free from deception, upright, just and honourable individual.

There are many studies about ways to identify dishonesty in a person i.e. through body language, eye contact, how the person talks, through lying detector and even through handwriting.

There are even trainings or seminars offered to teach people on how to identify dishonesty. As there is much dishonesty around, people are willing to pay to attend such training.

As being mentioned earlier, one way to identify dishonesty is through handwriting. Researches have shown that there are 40 dishonesty traits that could be identified in the handwriting and it would be a benefit to us to at least know one or two traits.

How could dishonesty be revealed through handwriting?

Handwriting is also called brain writing, as it is controlled by the part of the brain that also controls our speaking ability. When we write, we are not writing with only our hand. We also write with our brain, muscles and nerves. These four parts of us in turn react to conscious, subconscious and emotional stimuli. For example when we wrote in an angry emotion, it could be seen in our handwriting. That is how the handwriting could reveal a lot about us.

As handwriting is a projection of our subconscious mind where it would be able to reveal about the writer’s personality therefore it would definitely be able to show about honesty or dishonesty.

Honesty like any other traits also has a great many supporting and reducing influences. For example, a self-confident and high self-esteem person would be more likely to be honest in a difficult situation compared to someone who lacks confidence or has low self-esteem who would have a great need for approval.

Though we have the knowledge in identifying honesty and integrity through the handwriting, we should never make assumption or judge people i.e. we assume that the writer is a dishonest person only because there is one dishonesty trait found in the handwriting. Bear this in mind, most of us would “bend the truth” sometimes I hope in the very rare occasion. Therefore when we see dishonesty traits in the handwriting don’t quickly make an assumption. It must be a continual trait throughout the writing not just an isolated or occasional occurrence.

It is not easy to explain to people about how to determine the personality through their handwriting, especially to those who have never heard of the science of handwriting analysis. It becomes a more difficult task explaining it without the illustrations or samples of handwriting.

Without any illustrations or samples of handwriting, you have to use your imagination to imagine how the words look like while I describe how they would look like. I take this as a challenge and this will be the first step for me to introduce the science of handwriting analysis to you.

Let’s look at three simplest but important traits that could be seen in handwriting.

Thinking pattern

There are four types of thinking pattern that could be seen in the handwriting. I am going to explain one. Look at how you write your “m” or “n”. If your “m” and “n” have a rounded hump, in a way something likes the small “m” use in this article; this means that you have a cumulative thinking pattern.

What it means by cumulative thinking pattern is that you understand things facts by facts. For example, when you read a book you need to read the first page followed by second page and so on. You could not skip a page, as you would not understand what the whole book is all about.

Your thinking pattern is like building a house. You must start with the foundation followed by the wall and then only the roof. You cannot go the other way round.

Since you need to understand thing facts by facts that make your understanding slower compared to other type of thinking patterns. Nevertheless due to this your memory retention is better than other types of thinking patterns.

Self-esteem

Your self-esteem could be seen in the height of the t-bar on the t-stem. The lower the t-bar on the t-stem the lower your self-esteem is. To increase your self-esteem you need to increase the t-bar to at least two-third of the t-bar stem. The best would be exactly at the top of the stem, like you are writing a capital “T”. If you think that this would make you handwriting look weird, two-third of the stem should be enough.

You need to practise writing the t-bar at the height of at least two-third of the stem until you are unconsciously writing this way. It may look easy and it is.

You need to understand that when you write, you are not writing with only your hand. You also write with your brain, muscles and nerves. If your handwriting that comes from your brain could show your habit; your personality then you could actually give an instruction to the brain to have the habit or personality that you want.

Think of it this way, if someone could give you an instruction of what to do, you could do the same to that person too.

Why is high self-esteem important?

It is important as when you have a high self-esteem, you will set a higher goal and you will believe that you would be able to achieve it. Having a high self-esteem would mean that you believe in yourself and your capability without the need to wait for others to believe in you.

This is the most important trait in order to achieve success.

Honesty

Of all the traits or personality that people have, I am really confident that honesty would be the first on your list that you would want to know about others.

Researches have shown that there are 40 dishonesty traits that could be identified in handwriting and it would be beneficial to us to at least know one or two traits. I am going to explain to you one of the lying traits, a very simple one.

If you look at a page of handwriting and you find that the whole page of the handwriting is illegible, you must start to question the honesty of the writer. For example you look at the “a” and you are not sure whether it is actually an “a” or is it supposed to be an “e”.

Or you look at the word “came” and you see it as “name” or “mane” or something similar throughout the whole page of the handwriting, an alarm bell should start to be ringing in your head.

You might notice that I said the illegibility must be throughout the whole page of the sample of the handwriting not just one or two words. I am saying this, as we are all human beings not angels. There are times we do lie and sometimes people call these as white lies.

Therefore when you look at a one-page sample of handwriting and find that there is one word or alphabet that is illegible, do not quickly make an assumption that the person is a liar or the person is dishonest. The trait must re-occur throughout the whole page of the sample handwriting before we could question the person’s honesty.

I have explained to you three simple but important traits for you to be successful. To be successful you need to understand what your thinking pattern is so your learning process would be easier. You need to have a higher self-esteem so that you would believe in yourself no matter what the situation is and you could find honesty inside yourself and people around you.

With the explanation above you could start to learn more about handwriting analysis, understand yourself better and make improvement to yourself and people around you.

Dating. Beautiful, challenging and complicated game. You want to be on top of it, right? You want to ride the wave, finish up the first and take the prize – the best partner out there! You want to be a winner at the mating game and live the life of sweet promises that the whole world conspired to intoxicate your mind since you were a kid.

Where are the happy endings, where is the funny-easy-playful way of getting the girl or the boy? Where is the promised land of ecstatic feelings, the passionate love making and godlike alchemy you are supposed to become when you are in love?

Well, they are all there but it seems that nobody told you that it takes both science and art to get you where you are supposed to be, according to your life scenario. The truth is that it can be as much fun, pleasure and a growing experience as it can be painful, humiliating and full of uncertainties.

The good news is that this game has some unchanging rules, established by biology, society, cultural norms. The bad news is that some of the rules are changing on an ongoing basis, depending on the personality treats that every one has them. Previous experiences will translates in engrams, fears, traumas or certain expectations that will burden the fragile entity that it is a fresh relationship.

Rarely a couple is formed only by 2 persons, usually your bed will be shared by at least 2 other people: your each other projections of the other one. And that makes it crowded and sweaty, from all the wrong reasons.

Therefor, each of you will have to learn the art of dating and the science of having a healthy relationship. Although you may grow up thinking that you know it all, sooner or later sufferance and failure will be the supreme masters that will get you back to school and make you take on a more technical approach.

And you shall have no fear: even if you apply some discipline to it, the romance and magic will still be there, this time with a solid base.

Answering some questions will help you see the light. e.g.

* What do you want from a relationship?

* What needs do you expect to be fulfilled by your partner?

* Which are the personality types that really sparks your fire without burning you to the ground?

* How much are you willing to compromise and which things you can’t bargain with?

Answers and strategies don’t come easy, of course, but anyway, who said that it should be easy?!

The truth is that dating and relationships can be so complicated that many times you’ll feel like giving up. Then you’ll be the blase that went through all of this, got in and got out since “nobody is really worth it” and the smart way is to show an olympian detachment to the teenagerish emotional games.

But you’ll be back, humbled by loneliness, hungry for communion and impatient to dance the moves of love. Only this time you’ll accept the ridiculous idea that a strong love relationship it doesn’t just happened, it doesn’t come naturally (yes, they lied to us), that it takes effort and time to build it, that is neither cheap nor easy but it will be worth all the prices.

The prescription for a beautiful relationship will challenge you to find the balance between what you give and what you get, to keep some self boundaries while you still let yourself become one with your partner, to be independent while still being co-dependent in a couple, to negotiate conflict in a playful manner, to learn the language of love of the other one and reconcile different rhythms, visions and life values, to marry ration with emotion.

Sounds like martian talking for many of you, but the beauty will come from going through the process itself which can be a lifelong trip and ritual of self-discovery.

Some of you may even find God through love, others will discover nuances of your personality you never knew you had and some relationships will make you be a better version of yourself in the end. Validation, empowering, self growth are only few of the signs of a good relationship.

Nevertheless, clouds and storms will be and some of them can be very challenging. Sometimes you may discover that you and your partner didn’t followed the same ascendant trajectory and one took off while the other one didn’t.

Even more, many people get together not because they wanted to share the beauty of themselves and life, but because they had complementary traumas and they fed each other problems. Even then, some of them may get cured and empowered by the relation itself and move on, while the other one remains stuck in old patterns.

Dilemmas can be at every step in the genesis of a relationship: maybe you’ll have to chose between 2 possible partners, or you are unsure if the one you are with is the right one; if you should let go of a relationship or keep investing in it, overcoming lies and betrayals, forgiving or being faithful to your principles, all of this can appear at any point and shadow the beauty of a relationship.

A relationships holds almost magical powers: you learn as much about yourself as you do about life, humanity and possible divine. Relationships can overwhelm you with both ecstasy and agony, can show you the beauties of the heaven’s gardens or the emptiness of hell. I am sure you’ve been there and wondered how something that used to be such an uplifting experience transformed in a bitter and resentful situation.

Those are the moments when an objective and qualified opinion can bring insight and objectify situations that otherwise are complicated and may take a long time to get resolution. My promise is that my experience, not only with clients but both as a player of this game, entitles me to offer you the needed help in troubled times.

Seek for an experienced therapist when troubled times knock at your door: you may be so caught in the tension and lost in trying to understand, that a rational and objective opinion might be just the help you need. Relationships can be beautiful, it’s just that we all need to become artisans with a Phd in the art and science of relationships!

by: Adam Eason

Before focusing on the subject of developing confidence with ones golf swing I want you all to think about this notion; you cannot just “Think” yourself a wonderful golf swing. Otherwise, we would all just think about pots of gold arriving in our front rooms and we’d all be rich. However, the pots of gold do not arrive just by thinking about them, likewise, our golf swing does not transform into that of Tiger Woods just by thought alone. Something needs to be done to get confident about that golf swing. So, this is the first notion that I want you to think about before I talk about building a powerful level of confidence in your golf swing.

When anyone is developing a new confident golf swing, there needs to be an element of action that is taken to alter and update the golf swing properly and effectively. Something new needs to be done enough times for the unconscious mind to learn it.

The early success philosophers and gurus like Stephen Covey and Napoleon Hill recognised that in order for a new behaviour to happen unconsciously and automatically, it needs to be done for 21 consecutive days. So then the new behaviour is learned thoroughly by the unconscious mind and your confidence in your golf swing can begin to happen on auto-pilot. So, any confidence with your golf swing needs some conscious effort and repeated application for your new confident golf swing to happen unconsciously.

Now, when you have a new way of doing things, the other, old, unwanted way of doing things doesn’t just wither away instantly. It remains in the bank. If you were confined to a wheelchair, the muscles in your legs would begin to experience atrophy, the same way that when certain parts of your brain are not used, they experience atrophy; this is why it is difficult for us learn languages when we are much older and school kids find it a bit easier; that part of our brain has not been used for a long time.

The old golf swing needs significant time to experience atrophy. Imagine that here and now as you read this, your unconscious mind has carved out a distinct way of you swinging your golf club and this way is well defined by repitition from the past. Every time you step up to perform your golf swing, your unconscious mind carries on down that well trodden pathway that you have always gone down; your golf swing is the same. It is the only way that it knows and is the easiest route to take.

When you create an alternative, confident new golf swing, you are carving out a new pathway that needs to be trodden down and paved well several times, so that your unconscious knows it is there and knows that it can take this route in certain circumstances, events and situations.

Ok. So then with repeatedly taking the new pathway, the old pathway can begin to overgrow and have its own atrophy. However, we all know how easy it is to unearth an old pathway and drift back to our old golf swing; if we allow ourselves to go back along that way, it can begin to get carved out again.

These notions can form the foundation of any programme of change. However we are focussing on your golf swing here today and how to develop enhanced confidence with your golf swing.

When I first became involved with the world of hypnosis, NLP and personal development, I read a wonderful book by a man called Dr Maxwell Maltz entitled “Psycho-cybernetics” that formed the basis of many modern ideas as to how we understand personalities. Dr Maltz was a plastic surgeon and he found that if he changed the way people looked, often it changed their personality too. When people looked different, they also felt different. Often people that had lacked confidence, were transformed into more confident, outgoing people who lived life with more zest.

What perplexed Dr Maltz is that some of clients did not seem to get happier. Some, whose appearance had changed a lot, didn’t seem to change their feelings. They still felt lacking in confidence.

So what Dr Maltz concluded was that cosmetic surgery would not benefit the client if they had a poor image of themselves. His solution was to create a visualisation technique that helped them to change their inner self-image. He had some wonderful results. So when the clients changed the way they felt about themselves, they became happier and more fulfilled and their confidence grew. You know that when you feel great about your golf swing, your golf swing is better and you are more competent with your golf swing. The technique is simple, here it is;

Firstly, imagine your golf swing as you would ideally like your golf swing to be. Think about how you would look if you were as happy and confident as you wanted to be with your golf swing. How do you walk? What do you wear? What expressions are on your face? How do you move? Take all the time necessary for this, to really get an idea of how you are when you are confident with your golf swing.

Secondly, when you know what you will look like, make a film clip inside your mind, in your imagination of yourself being happy, confident and deeply self-assured with your golf swing.

Thirdly, imagine yourself stepping into that film, imagine seeing through those eyes, hearing through those ears, and feel those confident feelings, think to yourself; how do I know the confident feelings? Where in my body are they? Enjoy feeling and being exactly how you want to be.

Lastly for this exercise, imagine that when you get up tomorrow you awaken as that ideal you, feeling this good and imagine your golf swing going as you want it to and be confident about your golf swing.

Remember what I said at the beginning, you must use this technique over and over in order to get the most from it and really make yourself a confident golf swing. Look out for part two of this article of getting confident with your golf swing.

People with low self-esteem rarely live their life to the full. They distance themselves from others, and are thus denied their love and support. They rarely, if ever, make full use of their abilities. Instead, they end up brooding about the injustices of life. Such people are a loss to themselves, their family and to society. Some of them even take to crime, alcohol and drugs.

Invariably, people with low self-esteem are uncomfortable with success. They tend to believe that they don’t deserve success, and they have no clue as to how to savor success. At the same time, they do not hesitate to blame themselves if things go wrong. They take sadistic pleasure in telling the world that they knew things would go wrong. This is an important symptom of low self-esteem, and needs to be treated at the earliest.

People suffering from low self-esteem also have the habit of putting themselves down. They repeatedly tell themselves that they are not good enough and that they are bound to fail. Over a period of time this negative self-talk turns into a negative self-belief. More than that, they try and implant these seeds of negativity in people around them. They also gravitate towards people who suffer from similar problems. The end result is that they feed on each other’s negativity, and become much poorer individuals than they initially were.

A high level of dissatisfaction is another indicator of low self- esteem. There are people who spend all their time complaining. They neither see a positive thing in others nor in themselves. This cynicism eats away their self-belief, and erodes their self- confidence. In contrast, people who value their abilities enjoy high self-esteem.

Also, people with low self-esteem spend most of their time brooding about the past and worrying about the future. They don’t spend enough time living in the present. As a result, they don’t enjoy the present, even though it may be full of success. The net result is that they prevent themselves from enjoying life, and make themselves unhappy. It finally becomes a vicious cycle that feeds upon itself, and prevents them from breaking out of their negative mould

such people are rarely relaxed and at ease. They keep looking for different jobs and lines of work. The reason why they are always looking for something else to do is that they are lack self- confidence. They drift from one crisis to another, and blame fate for their woes.

A few of them take to alcohol, drugs, food, sex etc to get a temporary “high”. But this rarely helps them in the long run. They fail to generate a sustainable feeling of happiness and contentment.

People with low self-esteem also have problems getting close to others. They are not comfortable with intimacy and create barriers to prevent people from coming close to them. They don’t like to open up to people and to reveal their innermost thoughts. They may be nursing some old bad experience with someone who caused them a lot of pain or who let them down when they were most vulnerable. By forcing themselves to live in a world of self-denial they are doing a great damage to themselves. They fail to benefit from the company of others, and keep entrenching themselves deeper and deeper into their negative world. They may ultimately reach a stage where they may be declared beyond salvage.

But this is not good for society. People with low self-esteem must be helped. Their symptoms must be diagnosed, and help provided if they have to be turned into useful members of society. This help can be given by family members, friends, teachers or by trained psychologists.

Formulating New Thought
by: Roy E. Klienwachter

In order to fill one’s cup with fresh tea, one must be willing to empty the cup of old tea first. (This wisdom comes from a famous Buddhist story).

The principal is about as simplistic as one can imagine. It can be achieved in a heart beat if one is not burdened with a lifetime of baggage. All thoughts are pure, but when they are blended with others thoughts they become a new thought. Earl Grey tea is no longer a flavour when you add milk and sugar, it becomes something else.

There must be purpose for thought to work in your favour. Your purpose must be sound for the thought to work. For instance, you may want a new car because you believe that it will make you happy. This is not a reasonable, sound thought. It has the “root belief,” that things will make you happy.

All of us have had the experience of wanting something and receiving it only to discover that it did not make us happy. So basing our thoughts on things to bring us what we want, simply does not work all the time, because it is in reverse order.

The “root,” of our desires must be clear on a conscious level in order to manifest physical results correctly. All desires are clear on a spiritual level and spirit manifests perfectly all the things that it desires to experience, on a subconscious level.

You must begin to make friends with your ego in order to work with it. To do this you must understand first that the separation between thought, word and deed is an illusion and then you must be willing to work within the illusion.

If ego wants a new car that is OK, but you must understand why it wants it. Is it simply a desire to have it because it is pretty, powerful or luxurious. Or is it because ego is sad, incomplete, depressed, jealous, lacking; what is the root cause for this new desire?

Once you discover what the root reason for the want is, then you may discover that the acquisition of the car is not going to bring the desired result.

So why does the “having,” of the new car not bring happiness on delivery? It is because the focus has shifted temporarily from the root thought that manifested the car to a moment of happiness which is a learned response from earlier times.

The happiness will not last long or the reasons for the unhappiness will be buried and come up later. The car will not be nearly as attractive in a short time, because it is not what you really wanted in the first place.

To begin to change ones thoughts, one has to be ready to give-up a lifetime of baggage about what works and what doesn’t work. In order to make that happen I believe that you must be in tune with your emotions and then find ways of expressing them.

In reverse order, in the car scenario, if you wanted to experience happiness, you would simply be happy first then express it physically with happy images or manifestations. Manifestations are physical images of thought. This is where the new car fits in and is an expression of your happiness, it is a thought manifested. In this case you don’t need the car to be happy, because you were aware of your root thought and the car is only a symbol of your happiness. If you never got the car you would still be happy. In our culture we have things turned around ass backwards, and this is demonstrated in a society that does not appear to be happy much of the time, it does things, buys things, and believes in things that it hopes will bring happiness. But always this is in the future; we plan for happiness to come in the future once we have done something else. “It is backwards,” and it never comes. What you plan for in the future must always stay in the future.

The root of happiness is always a thought about it first. Thought produces physical expressions of emotion and is manifested into physical objects or symbols. You will always experience what you think, but you will not always be in touch with what you are thinking on a conscious level. So the disappointment experienced after receiving delivery of the new car is not understood, because the decision to buy it was not founded on what was truly your original root thought.

To streamline the process and cut out all the fat in one’s life, to lessen the burden you may feel, you must consider the ego, mind, and spirit as one. When all three work in harmony, the circumstances in your life are always experienced as freedom and gratitude, and not as struggle and disappointment.

The new thought process begins with communication between what the mind wants to experience, and what the ego desires. Learn to talk to the ego as a friend, your best friend. Don’t be afraid to speak out loud, the power is in the spoken word. This ego thing is with you all your physical life, know what it wants intimately. Learn what the mind has sent you here to experience and then use the natural talents that are unique to your ego to create the circumstances that best reflect that collaboration. Your natural talents are a huge clue as to what your mind wants to experience.

Life’s experiences move freely without struggle no matter what the expectations of the experiences expressed are. Nothing is beyond the reach of the ego when it has an agreement with mind and spirit. All that you experience now is a physical demonstration of how this process works, for what you may call good or bad.

To make things even simpler and to eliminate some of the baggage that comes with moral issues of right or wrong, good and bad; replace those thoughts with thoughts of “what works,” and “what does not work.” When you have contemplated the advantages of this philosophy and have practiced it, you will see that all things are connected, and what works well for you will also work well for all others, because you will be working in harmony with “mind,” and mind is all there is. The right hand cannot hit the left, because they are connected to mind, and if the mind does not wish to experience the slapping, it cannot happen. All things are connected and work in harmony with the collective consciousness of ego.

It is ego that now experiences the collective circumstances that we are demonstrating in the world today. If these experiences are not bringing us the happiness that we desire, then it is because of an error in thought. We must discover the root thought for the experiences that we are having, in order to change what we are manifesting (creating).

The ability to reason, is an awesome responsibility, it is much like putting a hand grenade in the hands of an infant. Power can destroy us, and power is triggered by thought. If the power we have in our hands is greater than our ability or maturity to use it wisely, we will pull the pin, it can happen no other way. Power is not power unless it is experienced, and power made available to an undeveloped ego will destroy it.

Formulate new thought that is in harmony with what it is you want to experience collectively with mind and you shall have it. Mind is the collective (power), soul is ego (your individuality) and body is the results of all things working together (physical).

If your life is not working well for you, then there is a breakdown in communication with all the parts, you are not connected with your root thoughts, and the beginnings of what you have manifested or created.

The expression of root thought into physical manifestation or creation is thought, word, deed, and all parts must agree to produce a desired result.

This article discusses some of the techniques that hypnotherapists use to treat phobias. It is not intended to be a substitute for attending a well-recognized hypnotherapy courses.

Therapy sessions, regardless of the techniques chosen, should always begin by helping the client to understand that all phobias can be reduced to a learned and (subsequently) habitual fear response to a set of stimuli – the object of their fear. The client will recognise that it is often the anticipation or thought of the object or circumstances that trigger the fear. This is especially true for clients with a fear of flying where the anticipation of the event may last for several weeks.

In treating clients it is important to use the language of ‘correcting habits’ rather than applying a medical label. In this way a ‘habitually fearful’ client is more likely to see their phobia as a habit that needs to be broken rather than having a more complex illness.

While there are many approaches to phobia therapy, three are outlined below. Each should begin with an induction and deepening of the trance state.

A regression approach to phobia therapy is based on the premise that uncovering the root cause of the fear (the point from which the learned behaviour stems) allows the client to reflect on and ultimately overcome their habitual response. This could be used successfully with parts integration between the rational and fearful parts of the client’s mind to acknowledge the reason for the fear and suggest alternative behaviours.

Systematic desensitisation (in the context of hypnotherapy) is an alternative approach to phobia therapy that uses visualisation to gradually expose the client to the fear-inducing stimuli. When the client experiences catharsis, the process of gradual exposure is repeated until the fear response dissipates or is reduced to manageable levels. A client with a fear of flying would be asked to visualise themselves (with as much sensory experience as they are able) planning a holiday, then looking at the calendar as the flight-date approaches, driving to the airport, waiting in the lounge as the watch the aircraft land and take-off, being called to the departure gate, boarding the aircraft, anticipating take-off etc. When there is a strong cathartic response the client will be placed visually back in the holiday planning to repeat the process as many times as becomes necessary. The session would usually end with future pacing and ego-strengthening to reinforce the client’s success.

The Fast Phobia Model is often favoured by exponents of NLP and lends itself well to hypnotherapy applications. After explaining the nature of phobia and the client’s ability to learn new responses, the therapist establishes the behavioural scenario or strategy employed by the client during the phobic response. One way to do this is using the TOTE model. The client is then asked to replay a scenario in which the fear has manifested itself, but to do this in a dissociated fashion by (for example) visualising themselves watching the events on a movie screen. To emphasise the dissociation, the client would usually be asked to view the movie in black and white. After the movie has finished and the image faded to black or white, the client is asked to associate themselves into the scenario and to run the movie in reverse and in colour to the beginning. For a client with a phobia of flying, the client would now for example associate themselves into a scenario where they are at some point flying backwards, then find themselves disembarking backward down the aircraft steps before walking backwards to the departure area. The movie is then faded again and the process of association repeated with the movie once again run in reverse and in colour. With each repetition, the client should see a reduction in their physiological fear response. The session would usually end with an assessment of the client’s ecology and future pacing to evaluate the success of the treatment, followed by ego-strengthening to reinforce that success.

For clients that have identified their phobia with a specific event in their life, such as ‘ever since I went on holiday to Spain as a child, I’ve had a fear of flying’, the regression approach could prove effective. Regression to the particular event may prove beneficial in its own right but will at the very least provide a visual scenario as well as evidence of the strategy employed and will hence be of use if other phobia techniques are to be used.

Whilst parts integration will be useful for analytical clients, this may be less effective for clients that are less able to intellectualise or rationalise their fear. For these clients the systematic desensitisation or fast phobia cure are more appropriate.

If you are thinking about becoming a hypnotherapist please take time to research the type of accreditation and quality of tuition you will receive. Attending a well-recognised hypnotherapy training course is essential if you want to ensure you are safe and competent to practice.

Cameron Diaz has a great smile. I think we all, male or female, agree on that one. It’s a really cute smile. And Pierce Brosnan is another film star who has a wonderful , sexy, delicious smile…When you see someone else smile, have you noticed how it can become infectious? Some people just radiate a warm, delightful, energy every time they smile. And we all have this ability.

If you would like to test the impact of a smile, why not set out one day with the intention of smiling at every person who crosses your path? You’ll notice how most, if not all, of those people smile back at you and each time you are the recipient of a smile, you yourself will feel a tiny bit better again. The effect will multiply as the day passes, with each smile of your own making you feel a little bit better and each smile of someone else adding to this powerful effect. Each hour will become a very happy hour indeed.

Can you imagine what a beautiful place this world would be if everyone realized the powerful impact of a simple smile? How nice would it be if every time you walked down the street people smiled at you, or smiled when you sat down on the tube, or just smiled for the sheer joy of feeling their cheek muscles moving and their lips turning up at the corners? I find it sad when I think that the world could be like this so easily, and that so very many people are missing out on the one of the most important feelings that a human being can experience – that of happiness.

So many people are looking for happiness and yet never realize that happiness is not something that arrives when you reach the end of a rainbow. Happiness is a state of mind, it is experienced NOW, in this moment; It is not a conditional state. Happiness just IS. To be happy one must learn to live in the moment, to live in the now, and to savor that moment for what it is.

For some this is easily accomplished. Others require help to change their conditioned perspective; but, do not despair. Help is at hand. You can get hypnosis downloads from the internet, recordings designed to help you to live in the now and to view the world in a happy state. You have the ability to learn the mental skills which will make you happy. It’s quick, it’s easy, it’s safe…why not try it? The secret of happiness is that it is all in your mind, and you have the ability to have one happy hour after another. You can use your mind to create your own happy hour!
